There are many so called “lasers” on the streets, however, which one is the best for you?
All the lasers are grouped into two categories ablative and non-ablative. The ablative treatments are the most aggressive, these include Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Active FX. they vaporize the outer cell layers and thus promote collagen production.
I use this modality for moderate to deep resurfacing of the skin. Indications include;
- Acne Scaring
- Deep Wrinkles
- Pigment Changes
- Skin Texture Irregularities
Since this treatment is more aggressive the recovery is longer, 5-7 days, and can encompass;
- Redness
- lightening or darkening of the skin
- sun sensitivity
- inflammation or infection
Results will last 1-5 years.
Non-ablative lasers treat the tissue and not the water, therefore, less cellular destruction and shorter healing times with collagen production. Patients may need multiple treatments to achieve desired results.
- Indications include;
- Stretch Marks
- Pigment Changes
- Fine Wrinkles
- Acne Scaring
- Wound Scars
Patients experience minimal downtime 1-3 days which is mostly redness.
I recommend a skin care regimen before and after which will shorten recovery, improve results and duration of satisfaction .
