Facelift (Rhytidectomy)
As we age, skin and muscles lose tone and elasticity and begin to
sag. A facelift reduces the effects of aging by removing excess fat
and skin, tightening loose muscles, and reshaping neck and facial
tissue. Particularly effective on the lower face and neck, facelifts
can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures including
browlifts, eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty. Depending on the condition
of your skin and your desired results, the procedure may take up
to three hours. Side effects may include swelling, numbness, bruising,
and tightness, but most patients report little pain and very minor
discomfort.
Brow Lift
Horizontal lines on the forehead and creases above the nose can
make you look tired, angry, or older than you truly are. These
wrinkles are intensified by sun exposure, heredity, and weight
fluctuation. Brow lifts can make the face appear years younger
by tightening and lifting forehead skin, thereby eliminating
wrinkles and expression lines. The end result is a more refreshed,
youthful appearance.
A brow lift can be performed alone or, for even better results,
in conjunction with other procedures such as a facelift or eyelid
surgery. During endoscopic forehead lift (usually chosen by younger
patients who are just developing brow wrinkles), an endoscope is
inserted below the skin to lift and tighten underlying muscles.
The brow will heal in the new position, leaving you with a younger
look.
BOTOX® Cosmetics
Customized for each individual patient, BOTOX® Cosmetics is purified, diluted,
and injected into the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles
and restore your youthful appearance quickly, safely, and easily.
Once used mainly for eye spasms, excessive muscle contractions,
and nerve disorders, it is now commonly used for purely cosmetic
purposes. It is particularly effective around the eyes and forehead,
reducing creases and frown lines and taking years off your face,
but can also be used on other areas of the neck and face with similar
results.
Rhinoplasty (or Septoplasty)
Rhinoplasty has become a fairly common procedure, performed for
both cosmetic and medical reasons. Patients can reduce or increase
the size of their nose, change the general shape, narrow the
nostril width, manipulate the angle between the nose and the
upper lip, and/or lessen the appearance of prominent bumps.
The procedure can correct birth defects and nasal injuries, and
relieve breathing problems. Surgery is customized for each patient,
and can be performed in conjunction with other procedures.
Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Children ages four to 14 comprise the majority of otoplasty patients
in the United States, although anyone with protruding ears, excessive
cartilage, or other ear defects may benefit.
Surgeons use a variety of techniques to reshape and restore ears.
Typically, the surgeon repositions the ear with sutures and cartilage
adjustment. In some cases, cartilage and skin are removed from
the external ear. The results are more natural-looking ears. While
surgeons strive for perfect symmetry, some variation from one side
to the other may occur. Subsequent changes in ear appearance may
also occur as the result of aging or other extenuating circumstances.
In these cases, additional surgery may be necessary.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Typically performed on patients in their 40s and older, reconstructive
eyelid surgery tightens droopy or hooded eyelids, restoring contour
and eliminating fatty bags under the eyes. Blepharoplasty gives
your eyes a natural, youthful appearance, and may improve vision
for patients impaired by sagging lids.
This outpatient procedure involves removing excess fat and skin
from the upper and lower eyelids, and tightening muscles. Blepharoplasty
can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures of
the eye, face, brow, and nose.
Laser Resurfacing
A high-energy beam of light serves as a high-tech scalpel to remove
damaged layers of skin and deeper tissues. Laser resurfacing is
commonly used to treat wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, uneven pigmentation,
skin lesions, acne scars, chicken pox scars, and tattoos. It can
be performed over the entire face or smaller areas, and can also
be combined with other surgical procedures and skin treatment programs
to enhance results. Because of the strength of this procedure, a
14-day recovery period is fairly typical.
Hair Restoration
Renaissance Surgery’s board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr.
Jeffrey L. Williams, is highly skilled in a wide range of cosmetic
and reconstructive procedures, but specializes in hair restoration.
Hair replacement doesn’t actually restore hair. Rather,
it takes hair grafts from places where hair is more abundant and
relocates them to balding or thinning areas. Grafts differ in size
and shape, but smaller grafts offer more natural results with little
or no scarring.
Dr. Williams transplants both minigrafts and micrografts, which
contain only one to four hairs. This incredibly precise procedure
is time-consuming, but the phenomenal results make it well worth
the time and effort. With permanent and completely natural results,
there is no need to worry about future hair loss.
Hair replacement surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure
using a local anesthesia, along with sedation, to ensure complete
comfort. Please contact Renaissance Plastic Surgery for more information.
Additional Face Procedures
SCAR REVISION
– Whenever there is a break in the skin from trauma, burns,
surgery, or disease, the skin heals itself by forming scar tissue.
If you’re self-conscious because a scar is especially severe
or noticeable, scar revision can make it less noticeable by making
it smoother, flatter and closer to your skin’s natural color.
Because it can take a year or longer for a scar to heal completely,
doctors recommend patients wait 12 to 24 months before undergoing
this procedure.
LIP AUGMENTATION – If nature didn’t give you the full,
voluptuous lips you’ve always wanted, lip augmentation can
help. The simple outpatient procedure can be performed on men and
women of all ages. Surgeons can inject your lips with your own
body fat or a variety of synthetic materials for more permanent
results.
FAT INJECTIONS
– Used to enhance lips (see Lip Augmentation), reduce wrinkles,
and extend the areas around the cheeks and eyes, fat injections
work best in the area between the nose and upper lip. Surgeons move
fat from one part of your body to another, a process known as autologous
fat transplantation. The procedure takes years off your face and
improves the appearance of lines from smoking, aging, and other
factors.
COLLAGEN, RESTYLANE,
COSMOPLAST TREATMENTS – Similar to fat injections,
these treatments can fill out wrinkles, skin depressions, and scars.
Our surgeons use a variety of injectable fillers to enhance your
appearance, producing healthy, natural-looking skin safely and easily.
